After a very long and welcomed wet season, all roads to “Australia’s Greatest Outback Pub” – the Burketown Pub are now open. Council has been very quick to get the machinery moving, and all roads to the Burketown pub are open and in very good order. Don’t forget we have a range of accommodation from budget pub accommodation to modern motel style accommodation. Just a reminder, the barramundi are on the bite , and the locals say the mud crabs are big ones.

A visit to Burketown would not be complete without stopping in to wet your whistle at the "local".
Known as the Customs Bond Store back in the days of Burke and Wills, it is now recognised as the Burketown Pub. The pub has a warm and friendly atmosphere, with many of the locals only too willing to entertain with their stories of past and present.
With its corrugated iron surrounds, the bar has a charm all of its own; you can feel the history of the past and visualize the legendary characters telling their many yarns and stories.
Today the pub provides modern, comfortable accommodation. Air-conditioned rooms and units are available; some with ensuite, tv and fridge etc
